Theatre
Theater:
The big news in this area is that I am taking a sabbatical from theater and teaching. For the next year or two or five, I will be
focusing on my ceramic and metal work here at the Toshiko Takaezu Studio. Of course, if the itch to do theater becomes too strong or someone offers me a dream project I'll let you know-loud
and proud!

Karin Abromaitis works in many areas of Theatre. She has extensive credits as a Performer, Director, Movement Consultant, Stage Combat Choreographer, and Dance Choreographer. Since 1984, she as worked primarily in the Washington, DC metro area, but has worked all over the United States and abroad.
Ms. Abromaitis has been on stage at Horizon’s Theatre, DCAC, New Playwrights Theatre, Small Beer Theatre, Goosebump Theatre, Round House Theater Silver Spring, and the Edinburgh Festival, among others. At the Kennedy Center she has been in The Gift of Giving, The Yellow Boat, and The Reluctant Dragon. Awards received include the Mary Goldwater Award for Idioglossia, as well as other awards for her solo Movement Theatre pieces: White Noise/2, White Noise/3, and Domestic Snakes.
Karin is a dynamic, exuberant workshop presenter and teacher. She is currently on hiatus from theater and teaching, but has been on the faculty of George Washington University and the Theatre Lab, and teaches frequently at Georgetown University, Montgomery College and the Theatre Lab. As an Artist/Educator, she travelled around the country leading teacher workshops for the Kennedy Center from 1999-2007. All across the United States, her workshops and classes have inspired thousands of participants to begin or deepen their personal search into their creative lives. Her classes in physical performance skills for the actor, movement consulting, coaching and fight choreography have been presented throughout the DC metro area and across the US, most recently with Round House Theatre, Everyman Theater, ACTCo, YPT, Tsunami, Woolly Mammoth, and Imagination Stage. Her training includes 15 years of dance, 5 years of mime and mask training, and stage combat training with the Society of American Fight Directors.
